IMAGE AND PETER MARK announce the winner of IRELAND’S FIRST nationwide DEBUTANTE OF THE YEAR
Charlotte Mathews of Loreto College, St Stephen’s Green, has been named winner of the inaugural IMAGE Magazine Debutante of the Year, in association with Peter Mark.
The awards were developed by IMAGE Magazine, in association with Peter Mark, earlier this year to recognise the spirited debutantes who not only possess a great sense of style, but who have also achieved something very special in their school years, making them a true inspiration to other young women. Competition for the prestigious title was fierce, as entrants to the awards created their own online debs scrapbook at www.imagedeb.ie, with details of their look, the night, and their achievements.
After much debate, the judging panel, including beauty expert and Ireland AM regular Laura Bermingham, Xposé’s Lisa Cannon, TV chef Clodagh McKenna, photographer Richie Stokes, Peter Mark celebrity hairstylist Michael Doyle, Spin 1038's Rachael Ryan, Daniel Lewis from www.planmydebs.ie and IMAGE editor Melanie Morris, chose Charlotte as a worthy winner for her commitment to charity during her school years, her innovation as chairperson of her school’s debs committee, and of course, her great sense of style. Charlotte wore a traditional white dress to her debs, which was held in The Shelbourne Hotel in October.
Charlotte’s prize includes her very own photoshoot in the February issue of IMAGE Magazine, plus Peter Mark goodies worth €500 and a subscription to her favourite magazine – IMAGE. Four lucky runners-up, including Rebecca Murray, Holy Child Killiney; Alex Berkeley, also Holy Child Killiney; Alexandra Spain, St Andrew’s College; and Emma Mullan, Presentation College, Terenure, each bagged a €100 gift card to spend at Peter Mark.
See our fabulous shoot with Charlotte, and find out more about The IMAGE Debutante of the Year 2012, in association with Peter Mark, in IMAGE February, out January 26.
Visit www.imagedeb.ie for a profile of Charlotte and the four runners-up.

125,000 Thank You’s from Peter Mark for Making Wishes Come True
2011 has been quite a year for Peter Mark as they celebrated their 50th anniversary and embarked on a number of exciting projects to say a big thank you to both loyal customers and the community as a whole.
With the support of over 1,600 staff across their 73 salons in Ireland and the generosity of their customers, Peter Mark is delighted to announce that they have managed to raise a staggering €116,881 in the Republic of Ireland and £7,127 in Northern Ireland for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Peter Mark teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to ‘Support 50 Wishes’ during September to raise much needed funds for the charity that has been granting wishes to children between the ages of 3 and 18 with life-threatening medical conditions since 1992.
From bargain blow-dry Sundays to fancy dress parties, cake sales and Grease Lightening tribute events, initiatives to raise money for this worthy cause took place in Peter Mark salons across the country during the last two weeks of September.
In response to the announcement, Susan O’Dwyer, Chief Executive of the Make-A-Wish Ireland said, “We’re so thrilled to partner with Peter Mark in this activity. With the support of so many of their staff and clients, they have managed to raise an incredible amount which will go a long way to making a difference to families all over Ireland”.
Barry Dempsey, Managing Director, Peter Mark said, “This is a time of great celebration for us all at Peter Mark. Reaching our 50th milestone anniversary is of huge significance to our founders Peter and Mark Keaveney and to everyone at Peter Mark. What better way to acknowledge the event than by having this opportunity to give back to the communities that have supported us so brilliantly over the years”.
Barry continued, “The incredible generosity in both time and financial terms of our staff and clients who supported the initiative with such enthusiasm is amazing and we would like to say 125,000 massive thank you’s to everyone who made such an important contribution”.

A Triumphant Night for Peter Mark at the L’Oreal Professionnel Colour Trophy 2011
Hairdressing is a competitive business, and never is this truer than at the L’Oreal Professionnel Colour Trophy. This annual event is a highlight in the hairdressing calendar and this year, we are delighted to say that Michael Corcoran, Peter Mark educator reigned supreme as this year’s winner!
Speaking about his fantastic win, Michael said, “I can’t believe it! It’s the best thing that’s happened to me during my hairdressing career. It’s a milestone year for the company as it’s our 50th anniversary and I am so proud that my team mate and fellow educator Suzy Dowling and I got to represent the company in this way, this year. This award is a ‘we’ thing, not a ‘me’ thing – the whole Peter Mark education team is involved as well as my great make-up artist and model. It’s just amazing!”
Also a winner on the night were Michelle McDermott and her team mate Ciaran Purcell from Peter Mark Dundrum Town Centre, winners of the Irish Tatler Style Award.
Commenting on the standard of entries, Ivan Bishoff, commercial director of L’Oreal Professionnel said, “This year we had an exceptional level of entries and were overwhelmed with the level of outstanding talent and creative ability. The judges decisions were by no means easy with strong competition from all salons in all categories. The Peter Mark team should be extremely proud of their achievements”.
And proud of them we are! Congratulations to all and to all the wonderful winners at this year’s event.

Peter Mark L'Oreal Colour Specialists Shine
The venue was appropriate to the honour bestowed on the 45 Peter Mark graduates who gathered in the Great Hall of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham where they were conferred as L’Oreal Colour Specialists. This independently awarded degree is the hairdressing industry’s ultimate recognition for training in hair colouring for skilled senior professionals.
Recognised by L’Oreal internationally, the course is undertaken by those considered exceptional in their field and involves up to a year’s preparation prior to admission to the course. Speaking at the ceremony, Kathleen Gillen-Mitchell, General Manager Market Development with L’Oreal congratulated the graduates when she said, “With this qualification, you are now equipped to bring the very best salon experience to your clients. I congratulate you all for your hard work and achievement”.
Barry Dempsey, CEO and Managing Director also congratulated the graduates and their families who had travelled from the four corners of Ireland for the ceremony. After the ‘offical’ proceedings were over, Peter Mark co-founder, Mark Keaveney led the guests including Kathleen, Paul McGaley and Ivan Bishoff from L’Oreal, Peter Mark directors, the graduates and their families to a wine reception in the glorious Baroque chapel where the celebrations continued.

Shave, Dye or Blowdry – it’s all in aid of a good cause at Peter Mark with Today FM
Peter Mark has teamed up with Today FM to raise much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society. Last year’s event raised a staggering €800,000 and the hopes are that this year will be just as fantastic. If shaving or dyeing your hair seems a little too extreme, don’t worry. This year at Peter Mark, even if you just fancy a blowdry, you can still participate. Peter Mark clients can choose to get involved by donating just €1 to this great cause from February 13th to February 19th.
If you do decide this is a great idea for a change of colour that’s perhaps a little more low key than the green, pink and blue locks sported by some of Today FM’s best known DJ’s last year, remember you can always talk to a Peter Mark stylist about what’s the best look for you.
What’s more, there’s 20% off all hairdressing services at Peter Mark right now meaning there’s never been a better time to treat yourself to a great new look – and do your bit for the Irish Cancer Society too!
