Accessibility Statement
Measures to Support Accessibility
Peter Mark is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users. We aim to provide an inclusive digital experience by aligning our practices with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Our goal is to ensure that all content on petermark.ie is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for every visitor.
To support accessibility, petermark.ie includes:
- Keyboard Navigation: The site is navigable using a keyboard, with clear focus indicators for interactive elements.
- Screen Reader Compatibility: We use semantic HTML and appropriate ARIA attributes to ensure compatibility with assistive technologies.
- Contrast & Readability: Text and interface elements meet recommended contrast ratios to support legibility.
- Forms & Controls: All form fields include accessible labels, instructions, and error messages.
- Carousels & Motion: Image carousels that advance automatically include a pause button, so users can stop the movement and view content at their own pace.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for improving accessibility for people with disabilities, with three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
petermark.ie is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully meet the standard. These are mainly third-party embedded content, as described below.
Non-Accessible Content
Some content on petermark.ie is provided by third parties and is outside our direct control. We know of the following limitations:
- Embedded Google Maps: Interactive maps used to show salon locations may not be fully operable by keyboard. Their content may not be conveyed to screen reader users, and some map controls and labels may not meet contrast requirements. Alternative: The full address, phone number and opening details for each salon are provided as text on the same page.
- Embedded YouTube Videos: Captions on some videos may be auto-generated and may contain inaccuracies. Some videos may not have audio description or a text transcript. The video player is a third-party component, and its controls may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Alternative: If you need a transcript or a description of any video content, please contact us and we will provide one.
We are reviewing these embeds and will improve their accessibility where possible. This may include adding descriptive titles to embedded frames, providing transcripts, and offering text alternatives alongside interactive maps.
While we strive to ensure full accessibility across all pages and content, accessibility is an ongoing process. If we have inadvertently missed an issue, we welcome your feedback and will work to resolve it promptly.
